Explore Your Options.
Cost is always a concern for consumers and families, but it shouldn’t prevent you from exploring your options. Home Care for Maine works closely with state, community, and other public resources.
Some private health insurance and long-term care insurance policies cover in-home care services. Policies vary from consumer to consumer, so be sure to read your policy carefully.
There are different ways you can pay for home care depending on which services you require and what you can afford. Some services may require a co-payment. Our experienced administrative staff can help you decide which payment options will work for you.
Contact your insurance company with the following questions:
1. Are Personal Care Services?
2. How long are Personal Care Services covered?
3. Are there any restrictions to coverage?
4. Is any prior approval necessary?
Government/State programs such as Medicaid/Medicare can help pay for services for individuals who meet financial and medical criteria. These programs pay for a limited range of services. You can find out if you are eligible by contacting Maximus Ascend at 1-833-525-5784 and asking for an Assessment. The nurse assessor from Ascend will inform you of programs and services for which you are eligible at the time of your assessment. Be sure to let your Ascend Assessor know that you would like Home Care for Maine to provide your services.
If you or your family member is a veteran, you may qualify for financial assistance paying for home care services. To find out if you are eligible, contact the Veteran’s Administration at 1-877-421-8263.
Knowing what your private pay insurance covers for services often is the first step. Some Home Care for Maine services may not be covered by private insurance, Veteran’s Administration, or Medicaid. When eligibility fails for these funding sources you or your family may need to pay privately.
