Home Care for Maine only hires individuals who are 18 years of age or older, hold a valid driver’s license and have access to an insured and inspected vehicle. Applicants must have the ability to perform the duties of the position, demonstrate exceptional job performance through references, and pass criminal and motor vehicle background checks. We provide extensive training and offer part-time positions with flexible hours.
No two days of caregiving are the same. Caregiving is a learning process with each new client and each new day. To set you down the path to success, scheduling staff at Home Care for Maine’s office take the following factors into consideration when matching you with a consumer:
- Personality and interest compatibility
- Level of training and type of care required
- Your schedule and availability
- Your proximity to the consumer’s home

Home Care for Maine consumers average three hours per day. You may work from one to twelve hours, over weekends, at night or in the morning in addition to day shifts. You may provide care such as a sponge bath in bed or assistance getting in and out of the shower, incontinence care (changing/cleaning bedpan or adult diaper), Alzheimer’s or dementia care, accompany to a doctor appointment, plan/prepare a meal, medication reminders, light housekeeping, assistance with dressing and grooming.
Your schedule could vary from day to day or week to week depending on your availability and the needs of your consumers. It is important for you to have flexibility. Staffing Coordinators will attempt to maintain as much consistency for you and your consumers and take your availability into account when schedules change.
